Robert Alston Jr.

President

Robert Alston, Jr. matriculated through the District of Columbia Public School System graduating from Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School in 1986. Robert is currently employed with DC Public Schools (DCPS) at Calvin Coolidge Senior High School as the In-School Suspension Coordinator. Robert has a total of 37 years in public education.

Robert earned a bachelor's degree in Theology in June of 2013 and his Master of Divinity in June 2014. Robert was installed as the 8th Pastor of Thankful Baptist Church on October 13, 2018. In his spare time, he loves cooking and helping people. 


Latasha Jones

Vice President

LaTasha Jones is a champion for children who has served families and communities for over 20 years. She now serves as ISS Coordinator at HD Cooke Elementary School. She has experience in multiple communitiy, public, public charter, and private school roles which ensures she has a unique perspective.

LaTasha is a mother, award-winning educator, holistic counselor, wellness coach, mentor, artist, entrepreneur, and advocate.

Her persistent and perseverant spirit are evident in her mantra "Go forth and be great."

Chiquita Paige

Recording Secretary

Chiquita Page is our Recording Secretary. Ms. Paige has been with DCPS a total of 9 years and is an Educational Aide at Randle Highlands Elementary. She is a student at Trinity Washington University studying Early Childhood Education. Ms. Paige is the life of the event no matter where it is and who is hosting. To know her is to love her or tolerate her, either way you will get the full Chiquita!

Joseph Burno

Secretary Treasurer

Joseph "Joe" Burno is our Secretary Treasurer. Mr. Burno has been a paraprofessional at Tyler Elementary School for 13 years. He's a graduate of Central High School in Prince George's County. He also has a Bachelor's in Engineering from Brown University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Howard University. He's a retired Sprint Sr. Network Design Engineer who decided to give back to his community after retirement by becoming a DCPS paraprofessional.

Cynthia McFarlin

Executive Board Member

Ms. Cynthia McFarlin has been a member of AFSCME Local 2921 for 34 years. She is an Assistant Strategy Logistic at Jackson Reed High School. One thing she loves to do is watch old school cartoons.

Virginia Montoya

Executive Board Member

Virginia Montoya has been a member of AFSCME Local 2921 for the last 22 years. She is an administrative aide/registrar at Marie Reed Elementary School. For the last 13 years she has received the highest rating on her evaluations by her supervisor. For Ms. Montoya, it is a privilege to help others, learn from others, value every individual, and care about everyone's well-being.

LaQuontinesha Atchison

Executive Board

LaQuontinesha "Que" Atchison has been a member of Local 2921 since 2017. She served as a Trustee for two years and has been on the Executive Board since 2021. Que is a Kindergarten Educational Aide at Brent Elementary School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in May 2022.

Ana Ochoa

Trustee

Ana Ochoa is an Educational Aide at Bruce Monroe Elementary School at Park View. Taking on the role of Trustee for Local 2921 is a very interesting learning experience for Ms. Ochoa.

Andre'a Timmons

Trustee

Andre'a Timmons has been a member of Local 2921 since 2018 and has been a trustee since 2021. Andre'a is a Kindergarten  Educational Aide at Burrville Elementary School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childgood Education in May 2022. It is important for Andre'a to be a part of the union so that she knows her rights as an employee.

Vanessa Dixon-Briggs

Staff Representative

Vanessa Dixon-Briggs is the Staff Representative for AFSCME District Council 20 responsible for providing assistance to the members and elected leadership of Local 2921. Ms. Dixon-Briggs has more than 20 years of experience representing the workplace interests of employees by enforcing the Collective Bargaining Agreement as well as applicable federal and local laws.
